Many things have changed since I wrote a journal entry. To start off, I finally felt the overwhelming feeling many seniors from past years have warned about. All of my classes have suddenly decided to pack homework assignment after homework assignment, now don’t get me wrong, I knew what I was getting myself into when I put 4 AP courses for my schedule, but sometimes, it feels like an avalanche of work. Nevertheless, I know all this stress will be worth it for when I go to college next year. So far I have been able to stay on pace in my classes, however, I don’t really like being on pace, I like being ahead of pace, but recently, it has been better said than done. I personally feel that my classes are not hard, but all the workload has been making them seem as if they are.
On top of the classes I have been assigned, I have to keep my senior project updated so I can pass my exit interview with a 4. Some difficulties that I have experienced with my senior project is figuring out which parts should be in spanish because I want to have my exit interview done in both English and Spanish. Another thing I have to do is upload pictures of my life because right now my website is more generic than mine.
One thing I enjoy about the senior project is how it actually makes you sit down and reflect how your senior year has been; and not just your senior year, but your past, with the life map, present, your friends, family, and activities you are doing in high school, and your future, with the job shadow, again life map, and some of these journal entries.
So far, my senior year has been unimaginable. I was nominated for homecoming queen by FBLA, I have been elected President of the National Spanish Honors Society and Publicist of the Drama Club, I have gone to conferences for FBLA, my AVID family went to the pumpkin patch, and so many things that I cannot possibly put all of them on here. However, by far my favorite week was Bell week. I dressed up all of the dress-up days, my favorite being pajama day because it will be my last pajama day in high school, went to help with the food booth, and even participated in the “I believe” chant before the varsity game started. Unfortunately, Lindsay lost the bell in a close 21-28 match against Strathmore, however, I still had a good time.
One of the most stressful thing I am doing right now are college and scholarship applications. I have already submitted my CSU application, and I am in the process of submitting my UC and Private college applications. I have applied to CSU San Francisco, CSU Long Beach, CSU Northridge and Sacramento State University. I am planning to apply to UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Irvine, and UC Riverside. I am not pretty sure about Private schools yet, but that is because I have not researched them well enough. Scholarships are stressful because although there are many out there, there is still a chance I won’t get a lot, so I am applying to as much as I qualify for. Now I am not doing all of this by myself. I have the help of my AVID teacher, Mrs. Torres and my friends. I cannot believe how stressful this is to a person who is not in AVID because even though I have my teacher and classmates, there are still difficulties I experience.
