Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)
In the Future Business of America club students are expected to be like adults in the business world. I joined FBLA my sophomore year because my AVID teacher told me I had to go out and join clubs as a requirement and my friend told me to join FBLA because she was in it for 1 year and she told me to join it with her. In my two years in it, I had so much fun. I have competed in three different competitions: Introduction of Business Communication, Business Communication, and Global Business. My first year I placed top ten and I had the opportunity to go to the State Leadership Conference in Ontario, Ca. In my second year I competed in two competitions and I placed top ten in both, but I was only going to go to the State Leadership Conference for one competition. I had the chance to apply for an officer position in my junior year and I got my first choice, which means in my upcoming year I will be the Vice President for State Projects. |
The Excursion Club
The Excursion club is the club that raises money to travel to places many people have never been to. This trip we are headed to the East Coast during the summer. We went to our trip this summer of 2015 and we went to Boston, Philadelphia, New York, and Washington DC. I took so many pictures that I needed to buy a SD card halfway through the trip. I gained so many memories from that trip that I will hold dear to my heart.

Drama Club
I started my interest in Drama when my 11th grade English teacher asked for volunteers for the annual play last year. I helped paint sets and set up the stage. I enjoyed that experience so much that I joined and unexpectedly I was nominated in to be the publicist. I won the election and now I am the publicist of Drama Club advertising our events to our whole school. |
American Sign Language
The American Sign Language club is a club where students learn sign language to be able to communicate with students who are deaf. I learned my alphabet within 1 day and I every meeting I learned many phrases. I have only been in this club for one semester, but I will join it my senior year.

National Spanish Honors Society
The National Spanish Honors Society is a society that acknowledges those who are excelling in the Spanish Language. In that club I have helped with food booths and helping serve the Lindsay Chambers of Commerce. As a senior, my peers have elected me as their president. |
Activities
I have been part of many different activities while I was in high school. I am part of the AVID program, I have been a SCICON counselor, I volunteered for the NSHS to help serve dinner for the Lindsay Chambers Commerce awards and at multiple food booths.

AVID
AVID stands for Advance Via Development Determination which is the definition of many of us. I have been part of the AVID program for 2 years now, but I feel like I was in it for my whole life the way I have became close with my "family." I can't wait until next year's AVID class, but I am sure it will be amazing.

SCICON counselor
As a SCICON counselor, I learned (and relearned) so many things. I had the opportunity to mentor 9 girls all by myself and took care of many different other learners at different times. Even though I risked the fact I could fall behind all my classes, I took that risked and it was worth it. I am hoping I will have the opportunity to go my senior year.

Lindsay Chambers of Commerce waitress
For the National Spanish Honors Society I volunteered to help serve the elite members of Lindsay's community. I helped load plates with food then I had to serve them to many tables. Even though it was tiring, I had fun seeing who was making an impact upon our community.

Porterville Police Department Animal Control
My friends and I needed community service hours for AVID and our teacher gave us the option to go to one of the local elementary school, however, it did not work into my hectic schedule so I asked if I can do something else, so we decided to go to the Porterville Police Department Animal and volunteered there. We we went, we cleaned cages, gave the animals food and water, and made their beds.

I have been part of multiple food booths my junior year. I have been to football games, volleyball games and for Food Day. I have done food booths for AVID and our 2016 class. I had work multiple jobs such as, working the cash register, preparing food, counting inventory, cleaning and donating food.
