Journal 2
Junior year has been a crazy year. Many people have told me that junior year will be the hardest year compared all of them, but I didn’t believe them and I just thought they were just exaggerating; I was in for a big surprise.
When I got my schedule I was surprised I got 3 AP classes and my first thought was I will be able to handle them. I was assigned summer work and I thought if class was going to be like this I could be able to handle it. Then my first day of school my history and English teacher told us to turn in our work and to begin working on the next assignment and I just thought to myself I did not know what I was getting myself into.
Over the next couple of weeks I was able to get in the flow of how the classroom was being run and I tried to stay caught up. I joined Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and I was so excited to join again because my experience last year with FBLA was so much fun and I couldn’t wait for what this year had in store for us. When I went to the Central State Conference, I signed up for Business Communications and Global Business with my 2 other friends and I was pretty nervous about taking the tests because even though I studied for the test I felt so much pressure to place in top ten. After I was testing I felt really confident on how I did and then we had the awards ceremony a little later after that and that was when I began to get nervous again. In the end I placed 9th in Business Communications and 3rd in Global Business, which meant my friends and I were going to state.
For state we went to Santa Clara, which I was super excited about due to the fact our hotel was right across the 49er’s Levi stadium. The State Leadership Conference was an experience I would never forget because we did so many things there like go to Great America watch movies until late, and go to different workshops. Five people from our chapter placed top ten at State which made the awards ceremony bearable.
Other events which have happened this past year were me volunteering more than past years. One major volunteer event I participated in was being a SCICON counselor. When I heard there was a sign- up sheet to volunteer to be a counsel, I was one of the first ones to sign- up and I was so glad I did because reliving my SCICON experience as a student from high school was way different from when I went as a 6th grader and even though I risked a week from school I decided to take that risk and I am really glad I did because reliving SCICON took most of the stress away from school.
I still have a couple weeks until school is over and I just can’t believe all my experiences I have been in this year.
